Low Carb Turnip Fries

Low Carb Turnip Fries | A Firework in Progress
French fries are one of the hardest things to give up on a low carb diet, but with these turnip fries, you won’t be missing anything. Turnip fries are pretty simple to make and go great in place of fries with pretty much any dish- burgers, chicken fingers, you name it!

Ingredients in Turnip Fries

2 medium/large turnips
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp Chef Paul Prudhomme’s Vegetable Magic

Directions to make Turnip Fries

Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Peel your turnips. Slice into 1/4″ thick slices. Then cut into even strips. Toss in a bowl with olive oil and spices to coat all of the turnip fries. Spread evenly onto a cooking sheet. If any are overlapping, they wont cook as well, but you’ll combat that by flipping them several times while cooking. Cook in the oven for 30-40 minutes depending on how crispy you like them. I recommend flipping them several times- I usually do every ten minutes. Some are crispy, some are softer, but all have delicious flavor. This makes about 3 servings.

Start with 2 large or 3-4 medium sized turnips.

Peeling vegetables is my least favorite activity, but it must be done.

Try to slice as evenly as possible so they cook uniformly.

I don’t always cut evenly, but I try my best.

Let those babies soak in all the flavor!

Try not to let too many overlap.

If some start to get crispy, take them out first and let the rest keep going. Sometimes these have a mind of their own. I like how some are different textures. Variety is the spice of life, as they say! These are really delicious. Enjoy!
